The Channon is a picturesque hinterland village in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales, Australia. The closest major centre is Lismore, which is about 20 km to the south-east and Byron Bay is about 40 km to the east. The Channon is part of the City of Lismore and lies approximately midway between Lismore and the village of Nimbin.
Like many villages in the area, the land is used for grazing and small crop farming. There are a number of permaculture and organic farms and macadamia and coffee plantations in the area, as well as a number of intentional communities which have arisen over time since the anti-foresting protest movement of the 1970s. Like nearby Nimbin, The Channon is a gateway to the rainforests of Nightcap National Park.
The Channon is regionally significant for its proximity to Protesters Falls in the Nightcap National Park and the long-running The Channon Craft Market held on the second Sunday of every month. Opera is also performed in the village annually on the fourth Sunday each July under the banner of Opera at The Channon.
